Free motorways for electric cars?

Despite the growing number of electric cars and efforts to promote green mobility, Slovakia does not yet plan to introduce free motorways for electric cars. Although some European countries already offer concessions for owners of these vehicles, this option is not yet an option in Slovakia.

The main reasons for this are the financial shortfalls in revenue from vignettes that free use would cause and the need to maintain stable funding for road maintenance. Instead, the government is focusing on other forms of support, such as tax breaks and subsidies for the purchase of electric vehicles. With these measures, it is trying to motivate the population to switch to greener forms of transport without compromising the infrastructure budget.
